MONSTER TEA CUP POODLE, USA SOCCER #1 FAN, DAY 200

What up world!
Just another week in Cerro Verde, living the dream. Story time. Tuesday was pretty different. We did divisions, where two missionaries switch areas for the day, and I had a new gringo come with me in Cerro Verde for the day. It was the first time I had ever been with someone who doesn't speak Spanish. It was quite interesting. I was all freaking out that I wouldn't have my trusty ole Mexican comp to fall back on if I don't understand, but then I realized I pretty much speak Spanish at this point so I was fine haha. It was pretty cool. It was definitely new for me because I had to teach all the lessons by myself because the new elder, Elder Aiono, can't really talk yet. It was so weird being on the other side of being a new gringo haha. It was a way fun day though. Aiono is seriously hilarious. The area he is in is super poor, so he freaked out when he first got to my area because he didn't know there were parts of Honduras like this haha. He was just like me on my first day here, marveling at the asphalt streets, dogs on leeshes, etc. oh, and the funniest thing happened. So he is a 6'3, 250 pound big Samoan kid. We were walking down a road and we hear a dog bark and then the sound of paws running after us. He TAKES off running (he was like high stepping), trying not to get eaten by what he thinks is a monster dog from the depths of hell. I look back and it's seriously like a teacup poodle literally prancing behind us. I LOST it and he was so embarrassed hahaha. He is like "its instinct! Any dog who chases us in my area is like half dead and infested with rabies. I lost my cool for a second, don't tell anyone" hahaha. Classic. We went to an appointment we had set with the crazy lady and her granddaughter was outside. We asked if her grandma was home and she is like "Yeah, she is. But you can't go in right now. She is meditating." Normally, I would be like "that's a horrible excuse, she just doesn't want to talk to us" but with her, I believed that without a single shred of doubt haha. It was a pretty funny day. Oh, that morning, Aiono got a package from his mom filled with toys to give to little kids, and one of them was a blow up dinosaur. So we took it to our area and took a ton of super sweet pictures haha. Wednesday was kind of a dud. Appointments were falling left and right. Not cool Cerro Verde, not cool. There was a US vs Honduras soccer game Tuesday and it was way funny because everyone kept talking trash to me about how bad we were going to lose and just being dumb. It was mostly drunk people who were saying it all haha. The whole time I was just like "The majority of people  in the states don't  even know there is a soccer game tonight, let alone the fact that we have a team. We don't care about soccer. As for me, I don't even care about sports that ARE popular in America, so your little soccer game is as about important to me as my Book of Mormon is to you, so stop trying to talk to me crazy drunk guy. We clearly have conflicting interests and I don't think this friendship is going anywhere" haha. But when I found out the next day that we won, I became USA Soccer's #1 fan just to annoy everyone who annoyed me haha. I luv sportz and America. Thursday was pretty interesting. We went with the crazy yoga lady and were about to start the lesson when she goes "Guys...I need to tell you something. I'm not a woman who lies. I'm not here to waste your guy's time. I have loved your sweet, sweet spirits coming to my house, but I can't accept another baptism." Buuuuummmer. It was kind of a downer, but I saw it coming since we started teaching her. She just enjoyed our company haha. She was SO nervous that we were going to hate her or something and never talk to her again. She was like "You are two great young men. I don't want to be in Mexico or Arizona some day, you guys see me and just think 'oh there is that lady who didn't want to be baptized. We hate her". Dramaaaa haha. We told her that we aren't going to curse her for not wanting to be baptized and that we don't hate her. She told us we were very attractive both physically and spiritually, and we went on our way. By far one of the most interesting investigators I have had so far haha. On the flip side, we had a sweet lesson later that night. We watched a short movie about the Restoration with one of our investigators. After, we explained a little bit more, and then I asked her how she felt about everything we had taught up to that point. She said, "well, last time, you asked me to pray about what you had taught and what I had read to know if it's true. I did. The night I prayed, I had a dream. A man dressed in white was standing in front of me, telling me to come, this is the way. I've been thinking a lot about that dream since then and I think everything you are telling me is true. I have looked in to a ton of different religions and never had an experience like I have had with you two." WOOOOOOOO. It was so cool. We are hoping she continue like that and will be baptized at the beginning of next month! Good times. Saturday we just spent the day inviting everyone to church and making sure our investigators are ready to rock. Elder Ramos is having some problems with his ear. He says he is like losing his hearing and it hurts really bad. Im trying to be sympathetic, but he is such a drama queen about it haha. If I had a dollar for every time he has complained, I could pay for an ear transplant. Ray Charles went blind and became a music sensation, I'm sure Ramos can make lemonade out of this lemon of a deaf ear and become something great. Sunday was pretty sweet. A family we really wanted to come to church came, so that was nifty. One of our investigators didn't go because she was seriously freaking out. What had happened was that Saturday night, she said her daughter could go to some state fair type thing in San Pedro, and the daughter never came home. She wasn't answering her phone and neither of her friends were, so the mom was super nervous. We stopped by later that night to see if everything was ok, and it was all good. It turns out the daughter was just being rebellious and staying out too long, she didn't die or anything. I was kind of confused though because I don't know why in the world someone would let their daughter go to San Pedro Sula, the murder capital of the WORLD, at night. That baffles me haha. Well, that's about it. Changes are this week, so I could either get a new comp, go somewhere new, or stay here. Oh, and Wednesday is the last day for Presidet Veirs and for the San Pedro Sula mission. There will be two new presidents and it will be the San Pedro Sula East and West missions. Big news! Oh, and today is day 200 for me. Stay classy!

PEER PRESSURE, SCREAMING PRAYER, CARTOON FALL

What Up World!
How are you? Good, I'm great. I'll just get right to the good stuff. I had some pretty interesting lessons this week. Tuesday, we had our first actual lesson with Julio Cesar, our gangster friend. He works in an auto repair shop, and usually he is alwaaaays there, but this week he promised us to be at his house for a bit so we could teach him. We went over there, and he was there! He was way drunk, but he was home! Haha. Usually you picture drunk people as slow, slurring there words, and all that jazz, but no no no, not Julio Cesar. He was bouncing off the walls. When we showed up, he was listening to Metallica and just screaming his face off. When we knocked on the door, he let us in and just started screaming at us like "HEY GUYS WELCOME TO MY HOME COME IN DO YOU WANT FOOD WATER BEER JUST KIDDING I KNOW YOU DONT WANT BEER COME IN COME IN". After we got in, he kept pestering us for water but I wasnt thirsty, so I declined. I've never been peer pressured in my life, but this gangsta really wanted me to drink some water. Hes like "ARE YOU THIRSTY?!?!" and I said "no thanks, I'm good". He replied, "WELL GET THIRSTY. IT'S PURIFIED AND IT'S GOOD FOR YOU" and then did one of those fake gestures like he was going to hit me and then just started laughing like a lunatic hahaha. I was like "interestingly enough, I just became the thirstiest man in Honduras. Give me all you have", and I drank his water, which made him quite happy. After that, we sat down, taught a little bit, and gave him a Book of Mormon. He was like "THANKS MY FRIENDS. I LOVE JESUS. JUST LOOK AT MY FRONT DOOR" and he points over, and sure enough there is a giant red heart on his front door that says "JESUS" in the middle. He seriously craaaacks me up. We will see if he progresses! On Wednesday, we had quite the lesson. We are teaching the aunt of Mabel (the first baptism I had here). Her name is Margot. She is one sassy lady and I love it. Almost sassy-er than Michelle Nilsen, if you can believe that... Anyways, we have been teaching her a lot about the Book of Mormon and trying to help her gain a testimony of it. She had a ton of doubts with the first reading assignments we gave her because it was different than the bible. That is a huge problem here. We give people the Book of Mormon and they are like "wait....this isnt the bible...is this your bible? Do you hate the bible? Do you hate Jesus?" Its annoying haha. With Margot, we have been reading with her and asking her to pray, and wednesday we asked how she was feeling. She said "look..." pause....pause...dramatic pause...."this book is true." NAILED IT. It was seriously so cool. I just wanted to hug her, but I contained myself haha. She wants to be baptized, but we have to marry her and her "boyfriend" of 8 years who lives with her and is the father of her 3 children. He says he needs more time before he makes the decision to be married. I'm supportive and all that, but in my head I'm like "yeah, maybe another decade and another couple of babies will help you decide if you reallyyyy love her and want to stick around" haha. Its crazy. But yeah, twas quite the awesome lesson. We are hoping to baptize her next month! On Thursday, we had a lesson with the crazy lady who talks a ton and shows off yoga moves. We challenged her to baptism for next month and she was like "baptism sounds good and I believe everything you're telling me to be true.. But I need 3 years to prepare before I will be baptized"....What. That's oddly specific and extremely unnecessary haha. We explained the importance of baptism, and asked her to pray about the date we gave her. She was like "oh don't worry, I'll pray. I pray all the time. In fact, would you believe me if I told you I had a vision of you two last time I prayed?" Naturally, I was intrigued haha. She went on to say "I had a vision of your morning this morning. You both woke up at 6:30, said your prayers, did your studies, and went out to go preach the good word. Am I right?" I just said "Basically!" because I didn't want to rain on her parade. What had actuuaaallly happened that morning was I woke up at like 4:45 and was in the war of my life with some food I ate the day before, and my comp didn't wake up till like 8. And we don't go out in the morning on Thursday's because we have weekly planning.  So yeah, her vision antenna was a little off haha. We finished the lesson and asked her to say the closing prayer. She agreed, but only if we let her pray in her own way. I was like uh oh, we are all going to get in to yoga positions and transcend in to another dimension. She asked us to stand up, we formed a triangle, she told us to all hold hands, and she started praying really weirdly. I was just smiling so big. It was so weird. I was like "I am so happy I'm in the mission. Where else could I get these RIDICULOUS experiences? I'm in the middle of some ladies living room, in Honduras, holding hands, listening to this lady basically scream a prayer." It was so random haha. We will see what happens with her! Friday was kind of a dud. A ton of lessons fell through and we couldn't get a lot done. Something pretty crazy happened though. We went to contact a reference a member gave us and the lady's actions surprised me. We showed up to her house, said hello and explained who we were, and she was just SO rude to us. We explained that her friend sent us and she goes "I'm not going to let you in. Nothing will change my opinion of you guys." Awkward...We were just like ummm alright? We asked her if there was anything we could do for her, like service, and she just said "no, I'll do it all myself." Ok sassy! I have been in Honduras for 4 months now, and that is the first time someone I have contacted was rude to me and didn't at least humor us by listening to what we had to say before they told us they were happy in their own church. I don't know if that fact says more about how nice the people of Honduras are, or about how horrible that woman was haha. It made me laugh. Oh well, her choice.  On a lighter note, Ramos fell SO hard when we were walking today. I was walking on the sidewalk and he was walking next to me in the street, and for whatever reason there was a big puddle of cooking oil mixed with water. He walked in to it, started slipping like a cartoon does on an oil slick, and just falls SO hard. I had to do the concerned/good person thing and make sure he was alright, and then we both just lost it haha. It was so cartoon-ish. Good times. Saturday, something way cool happened. I have to give a little background info. We always plan for the next day right when we get home, so this story starts Friday night when we were planning for Saturday. We were going through each hour, filling it like normal, but could not think of anyone to visit at 7. That happens sometimes, but usually after like 30 seconds of thinking, we come up with something. But for whatever reason we could not think of ANYONE. We were sitting there for like 5 minutes trying to fill it until finally we just decided to take a break and come back to it later. Right then, we get a phone call from our zone leaders. They called to give us a reference from some other missionaries in a zone way far from us. We got the person's address and were about to say bye, and then they told us, "oh yeah, the elders over there set an appointment. Go over there tomorrow at 7, they'll be waiting." Whaaaat? There was our answer for why we were just dumb founded for 5 minutes haha. We visited the family and they were SUPER cool. Like ridiculously nice and accepting and everything. It was awesome. Maybe this story isn't that cool, but if you knew how weird it was for us to not be able to schedule an appointment, and then receive a call like that, it'd seem cooler haha. Twas a good day. Sunday was kind of a dud. Margot didn't show up to church even though she promised us, so that was kind of a bummer, but what can ya do. The weather was nice, so that was cool haha. Anyways, all is well here down under. Stay classy world!

NIFTY NODIK, TWO HORSEMEN, BURNING THE TIE

Greetings Gringolandia,
That is what some people call America here. Super weird. AnywayS, this week was pretty swell. It was kind of hard as far as being with good ole Elder Ramos goes though. He is in the process of getting Dear Johned, so he is a tad bit delicate at the moment. I guess I will just get right in to the stories. Tuesday, the senior missionaries who come and deliver all the things we need came and gave medicine to all the people completing 6 months in the mission. It is some weird stuff called "Nodik" that we have to take every so often to rid our system of parasites if we have them. When they brought it out, all the missionaries who had taken it before FREAKED out like it was of the devil and said how horrible it was. The side effects are just barfing, diaharrea, and weird colored pee. Nifty! I took it though and nothing happened. Probably because I am a beacon of health. So that's cool. The weather here has been ridiculous. It is SO hot during the days, and then it rains like crazy at night. On Wednesday we were walking home and it started drizzling a little bit, and 30 seconds later it was POURING rain. Of course, it was the only day I forgot my umbrella. So we walked home in the pouring rain. That was a first for me. It was sweet actually. I don't know what it is about trying to race the weather home, but it cracks me up. So that was pretty funny. I felt like I killed it in teaching this week. My comp says I sound like a native when I speak in the lessons, so that is pretty cool. We are teaching this one lady who always has construction workers over while we are teaching. When we were teaching her on Thursday, the guys slowly creeped in so they could listen. It was way funny. They like didn't want us to see them, but we clearly did, so we invited them to sit in. They started drilling us with questions and trying to stump us, but we answered everything they had to ask and they were all stumped. It was super weird because I didn't know anything about the bible like a year ago and now I'm teaching it. The next day we had to do the SAME thing because this Evangelical lady was trying to tell us we were wrong on all these random points, but when we showed her (using her own Bible) that everything we were teaching was in the bible, she started to be more receptive. It was a pretty cool feeling. I had one of the weirdest appointments this week. We went and visited a lady that was a reference from the Relief Society president, and she was crazy wild. She is like 50 years old and SUPER nice, but she got weirder and weirder the more she talked. We walked in, and after 10 minutes she was talking about how in to yoga she was and how she follows this one guru from India. She gave us a book of his and proceeded to show us one of her moves. She stood up, but her hands together, crouched like half way down and started breathing super slow. It took everything I had to not laugh. It was seriously the funniest thing. After THAT, she said she had a vision while she was "meditating" of a white horsemen and a black horsemen. When she said white, she looked at me, and when she said black, she looked at Ramos. I was super in to it and was so excited to hear what she was going to say next. She then explained that the white one was Jesus and the black one was the devil. I looked at Ramos and whispered "I knew it..." and we almost lost it. She then said "We can also look at this vision from a different stand point." Keep in mind she never explained the Jesus/Devil stand point. "What are the two strongest forces in the world?" she asked us super dramatically, like a weirdo. I just said "I don't know..please tell me..." She then says "Cocaine and gasoline. That is what the two horsemen are. Cocaine and gasoline. Controlling the world." It seriously made NO sense. I just kept shaking my head like "yeah, I totally know where you are coming from" haha. It was seriously the weirdest thing. She talked about Sadaam Hussein and how his whole life is somewhere in the Bible, Korea wanting to bomb everyone, and a bunch of other stuff. Quite the interesting situation. I was seriously trying so hard not to laugh. I love being here haha. Anywaysssssssssssss, everything is going swell here. Just doing my missionary thang. I completed 6 months this past wednesday! I am pretty much at the end. What a great mission it has been. I will get you my flight plans soon so you can all prepare for my glorious return. Just kidding, I still have an entire sister missionary mission to serve. Sweet. Oh, and apparently it is some tradition to burn a tie when you complete 6 months, so I did that. I found some old tie that it was in our house and did it with that. I am not about to burn my own tie. That is ridiculous haha.  Anywaysssssssss, thats it! Stay classy folks!

JULIO CESAR, BULLIED BY CHILDREN, RAIN SEASON

Greetings World,
Another week in paradise. Not really, it was extremely hot and I just worked a lot. But I guess that is paradise, kind of. I digress. There really isnt too much to mention, just a few stories. So this week, we wanted to baptize Mario, but he smoked. Not cool Mario, not cool. He has a problem and had to stop for 2 weeks, but he started again and so we had to cancel the baptism. But we are hoping we can get it back up this week! So yeah, that happened. In other news, we are trying to teach this one gangster guy and it is awesome. His name is Julio Cesar and he cracks me up. He lived in the states so he always speaks to me in english, and Elder Ramos just sits there confused haha. He always says "HOW ARE YOU DOING MY FRIEND I AM GOOD!" just like that, screaming, because that is how gangsters carry themselves. He told us that if anyone messes with us, we just tell him and he will kill them for us. So yeah, I dont know how converted he is to the gospel yet, but we will see haha. Wednesday, we went by Mario's house to visit with him and when we were leaving to go to our dinner appointment, it started raining. Hard. Harder than I have ever seen it rain in my life. It was seriously so nuts. I had an umbrella but it wasnt doing anything for me at all. Finally, we went to a pulperia that had a covering and waited for the rain to die down, but it didnt, so we decided to make a run for our dinner appointment which was like a block away. We took off running, instantly got soaked, and were just giggling like little girls out how funny the situation was. We finally got to the members house and they were just cracking up at us. While we were waiting for dinner to be ready, the LOUDEST thunder in the world happened and all the power went out for a good 15 minutes. It was cooky. Thursday President Veirs came to our zone and gave a presentation. It was way awesome. After that, one of the AP's wanted to come to our area with us for the day. He is seriously a champ. I learned a ton from him and we got a lot done. It was way funny because he is mexican too, so I kept telling him and my comp how great it was to be with fellow mexicans because they understand me so much better than the gringos. I thought it was funnier than they did haha. Saturday we had a baptism! The girl's name is Elena and she is seriously so cool. She has been attending institute and doing all this stuff like she is a member for the past month or so and is seriously such a champ. I always told her how much better she is at being a mormon than I was because I never did anything close to that before my baptism. She always gets a kick out of it haha. Anyways, she asked me to baptized her! It was super cool. She is seriously such a champ. Sunday was pretty swell too. We had a meeting with the ward and while waiting outside the church for every one to show up, a drunk guy waddled up to us and kept trying to talk to me. He kept saying how much he likes talking to Americans, but I told him I was from Spain so he would leave me alone and it kind of worked. He became less interested haha. Eventually, he went away and we went on with out day. We went back to our area and as we were walking to an appointment, there were all these kids playing in the street. One of them started SCREAMING cuss words at me. He was probably 6 years old and just kept screaming swear words over and over. After all that hatred and bullying by children, we went back to the house for the night. The whole walk home there was just pure lightning. It was super weird, it was just a storm of lightning. A lightning storm, if you will. It was crazy. When we got home, it started raining even HARDER than earlier in the week. It is rain season here apparently and Im loving it. Today, for P-Day we went to this castle fortress thing and a beach. I had the idea to take all our pics like senior pictures, so thats why some of them, the majority, look way gay haha. Anyways, thats about it. Hope all is well back in the mother land. Stay classy!
